Assembly Select Committee on Domestic Violence Hearing

October is
Domestic Violence Awareness Month and you're invited to join me and
Assemblymember Jimmy Gomez, Chair of the Select Committee on Domestic Violence,
at an informational hearing to learn what support systems are available at the
state and local level.

Child abuse,
spousal abuse and elderly victimization are all forms of domestic violence and
can be manifested in many forms affecting individuals and families regardless
of socioeconomic standing. It is critical that community members are familiar
with the available resources for victims of domestic violence.

At this informational hearing, we will be joined by local and state
organizations that offer assistance for victims facing domestic abuse.
Representatives from the following entities will be participating:

  • Rainbow
    Services, Ltd.
  • Redondo
Beach Domestic Violence Victims Advocacy Program
  • Family
Violence Division from the Office of the District Attorney
  • Torrance
Healthcare and Elder Law Programs Corporation (H.E.L.P.)

This
informational hearing is open to the public and comments will be welcomed.
Space is limited, so to RSVP, reply to this e-mail with your name, contact
information and the number of people attending the hearing, or you may call my
office: (310) 316-2164.
