Bone Marrow Drive & Fundraiser
Vince DiLeva was diagnosed with AML Leukemia on his 40th birthday. Instead of celebrating, Vince checked into UCLA and was there for 33 days doing his first round of chemotherapy and recovering until his blood count was stabilized. Fortunately, Vince handled the first round of chemotherapy well and is in remission, but the battle is not over.
He needs additional chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant.
No one in his immediate family is a match, like 70% of all leukemia patients, we are relying on matching programs like “Be The Match”. So, as Vince and his family settle into this new life and awareness about Leukemia they all wanted to find a way to support Leukemia and the stem cell transplant program.
We are thankful to City of Hope and their Be The Match for their invaluable service. We are committed to helping Vince and raising awareness of how important it is to have donors in the system for people like Vince who need a stem cell transplant. Vince is so grateful for all of your support.
How YOU can help:
1) Join Be the Match - If you are healthy and between the ages of 18-44, you can join the registry. Joining is simple- it takes a quick cheek swab and completing a consent form. By joining Be the Match, you will give thousands of patients across the country hope for a life-saving transplant. Joining doesn't guarantee you will ever match and donate, but if you do, you will be part of someone's miracle.
