LEARN ABOUT FALLS PREVENTION AT REDONDO ORTHOPEDIC PHYSICAL THERAPY’S FREE “FIRST TUESDAYS: GET FIT; GET UP AND TRY!
Falls Are a Serious Health Risk For Older Americans and Can Lead to Serious Injury, Loss of Independent Living and Even Accidental Death

The majority of individuals will experience difficulty with balance as they grow older.  Falls becomes a serious health risk for aging adults and are a major cause of injury leading to loss of independence and even death.  In fact, it is the leading cause of injury and accidental death for adults 85 and older.  There are ways to minimize this risk.   Redondo Orthopedic Physical Therapy will focus its December “First Tuesdays; Get Fit; Get Up and Try!” presentation on falls prevention.  Part of a series of ongoing monthly presentations dedicated to empowering the South Bay community to develop healthy habits that will prevent injuries and conditions impacting mobility, this Tuesday’s session will focus on how to recognize the increased risks of falls and the development of a home safety checklist.
The free and unique interactive presentation will consist of a “teach and try” approach where, following a short presentation on the topic, participants will break into small groups and sample various activities.  The ultimate goal of this “learn by doing” approach is to make permanent changes that will create a strong and healthy body.
