GET THE KIDS ORGANIZED BUT NOT OVERLOADED THIS FALL Learn Ways to Avoid Neck and Back Strain from Heavy Backpacks at Redondo Orthopedic Physical Therapy's August "First Tuesdays: Get Fit, Get Up and Try! Presentation

It may still look and feel like summer, but back to school time is just a matter of weeks away.  Kids of all ages will purchase backpacks that reflect their sense of style.  The great news is backpacks help kids stay organized with all sorts of pockets and compartments for pencils and papers and even lunch and snacks.  But the bad news is they can strain muscles and joints and cause back pain if they're too heavy or are used incorrectly.
Redondo Orthopedic Physical Therapy will focus its August “First Tuesdays; Get Fit; Get Up and Try!” presentation on backpack safety.  Part of a series of ongoing monthly presentations dedicated to empowering the South Bay community to develop healthy habits that will prevent injuries and conditions impacting mobility, this Tuesday’s session will focus on how to choose the right backpack and wear it properly.
The free and unique interactive presentation will consist of a “teach and try” approach where, following a short presentation on the topic, participants will break into small groups and sample various activities.  The ultimate goal of this “learn by doing” approach is to make permanent changes that will create a strong and healthy body.
