RB COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TRAINING (CERT) - FALL CLASS BEGINS

RB FIREFIGHTERS TO TEACH FALL CERT CLASS TO RESIDENTS- SIGN UP TODAY!

In an emergency, response resources will be stretched thin. The Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) is a nationally-recognized, positive, and realistic approach to emergency and disaster situations where citizens may initially be on their own and their actions could make a difference.

While people will respond to others in need without this training, one goal of the CERT program is to help them do so effectively and efficiently without placing themselves in unnecessary danger. In the CERT training, citizens learn to:

  • Manage utilities and extinguish small fires
  • Treat 3 medical killers by opening airways, control bleeding, and treat for shock
  • Understand disaster psychology
  • Provide basic medical aid (and gain a 2 year CPR, First Aid card)
  • Search for and rescue victims safely
CERT Training is a challenging and fun program taught by Redondo Beach firefighters, that takes place every Thursday night from September 5 - October 24 and is packed full of training and information. The training concluded on Saturday, October 26th at RB Fire Station 2 on Grant Avenue where you will be able to put your training to the test in a simulated disaster.

Please see the link below for schedule, class times and photos of previous classes. Please note you must be 18 or older, attend all classes to become CERT, CPR and first aid certified. Classes are limited in size and are $40 for RB residents.

Classes are Thursday nights from 6:30PM - 9:30PM at the main Redondo Beach Library. Classes begin Thursday, September 5th and are 8 weeks, concluding in a disaster simulation at RBFD St. 2 on Saturday, October 26th. Class is open to 18 and over and is $40 for RB residents (includes a 2 year CPR and First Aid Card). Class size is limited, so register today at www.RBCERTAA.org - "Training"
