Attention all artists: the Leadership Redondo Class of 2013 wants your ideas for outdoor public art to decorate a planned park at the intersection of Herondo Street and Harbor Drive.

The group wants local artists to submit proposals for the artwork, which will accompany the construction of a new two-way cycle track on Harbor Drive.

"The art piece will be in a prestigious location, very visible to bicyclists and pedestrians as they enter Redondo Beach from Hermosa Beach along the Strand/cement boardwalk," according to a news release from Leadership Redondo. "It is hoped that the art will provide a landmark in the area, and a great photograph opportunity for visitors and local residents."

Submissions are due Thursday. For more information, email leadershipredondo2013@gmail.com.

Leadership Redondo is an 18-month program put on by the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitor's Bureau "to prepare a select group of individuals … to become future community leaders." The first 12 months of the program involves studying the city, its residents and issues facing the community, while the final six months are reserved for a class project.

Previous Leadership Redondo classes have installed decorative benches around Riviera Village, archived stories about Old Redondo, funded the creation and installation of bicycle racks around the city, created a "Path of History" around the city, and erected a 9/11 memorial at City Hall, among other projects. The Class of 2010 is working to replace the now-demolished Veteran's Park bandshell.
