Library Kicks Off Summer Reading Program

The Redondo Beach libraries are offering prizes for those who choose to read over the summer.

With the second of two kickoff parties on Saturday, the Redondo Beach libraries  launched their annual summer reading program.

Sign-ups are still open for the annual reading program, which rewards people with prizes for participating.

Children who sign up receive an official bookmark, a reading log and tickets to two of the summer reading program events. When children read five, 10 and 15 books, they earn prizes, and all children who read 15 books earn an invitation to the program's finale party.

Children who read 30 books earn a chance to win a grand prize.

Teens in grades seven through 12 and adults who enroll in the program can enter a drawing to win a prize every time they read or listen to a book and fill out a book review card.
