Use the summer heat to make your hair healthier!

I bet most of you have heard that heat of any kind is harmful to your hair.  That's exactly right, so how can you use the summer heat to make your hair healthier?  Here's how:

1. Take advantage of those hot days by taking a cold shower!  Well, it doesn't have to be exactly cold, but simply always keep in mind that cooler always is better for your hair!  It's pretty hard not to take a hot shower in our, (oh so freezing), winters, but in the summer, go for it!

2. Use the heat of the sun to give yourself a deep conditioning treatment.  Salons sell the ones that really do work, (you won't find them at the drugstore, market, or even fancy shmancy health-food stores).  Say you want to work in the garden.  Shampoo your hair, towel SQUEEZE it dry-ish, put deep conditioner on the hair.  Then comb through or use a non damaging 'paddle' brush to conduct the stuff through the hair.  Place plastic cap, or plastic bag on your hair, (so it doesn't dry out), then put a scarf or hat on and do your gardening.  Usually 15 minutes to a half hour will do the trick, but go ahead and leave it on longer if you want.  Then just rinse with, (you guessed it), cold/cool water.

The best though would be to put on your deep conditioner, plastic cap and stuff, sunscreen your body and go to the beach.  Let the ocean rinse it out, and when you come home you can take that cold shower.

P.S.  After you've gone in the water don't forget to sunscreen and cover your hair when you're under the sun.  Some salons sell sunscreen specifically for the hair.

Have fun!
