Memorial Day 2014 in Redondo Beach

Here's what's going on on Monday.

Redondo Beach will observe Memorial Day 2014 at the Veterans Memorial in beautiful Veterans Park in Redondo Beach by the Pier at 1 p.m. Monday, May 26.

This solemn observance will include reflection and remembrance, music, commentary and honors to all those members of the armed forces who paid the ultimate sacrifice in our nation’s wars.

Memorial Day is a time to honor the fallen......

State Senator Ted Lieu and Assemblyman Al Murasuchi will make comments. Other local elected officials and military dignitaries with participate.

 Mayor Gilberto Antonio Hirata-Chico, mayor of Redondo's sister city in Mexico will make a special presentation and donation to the Veterans Memorial.

Keynote speaker is Colonel Donna Turner, USAF, LA AFB.
The Redondo Union High School Marine Corps Junior ROTC and Boy Scout Troop #378 are supporting the event. Music provided by the Redondo Beach High Wind Ensemble and the Los Angeles Police Emerald Society Pipes and Drums.

Donations and contributions accepted for the Redondo Beach Veterans Memorial. Sponsors available along with the purchase of Memorial Bricks.

The ceremonies will be followed by a BBQ picnic sponsored by the Redondo Elks at their adjacent Lodge. This BBQ is free to all veterans, military, firefighters and police officers. A $5 dollar donation from all others.
