Jackie's South Bay Weekend Guide

The South Bay by Jackie Weekend Guide is THE source for leisure activities and events throughout the South Bay!

You all know how much I enjoy discovering all the fabulous things there are to see and do here in the South Bay and checking out new restaurants is one of my favorite pastimes!

Earlier this week, my husband and I went to Dominique’s Kitchen for the inaugural Menage a Trois Monday. Dominique’s Kitchen now offers a Monday night happy hour with a special $3 menu. That’s right, from 4 to 6 p.m. you can indulge in a selection of appetizers, desserts, beer and wine for only $3 per plate or glass. At 4:15 on a Monday evening, we found ourselves seated in a cozy dining room in a comfortable banquette nibbling on deep fried kale dusted with Parmesan, French salami, Italian mortadella and a cheese board accompanied by steaming hot fresh rolls. There are several other items on the menu that you’ll want to check out ... escargot anyone? Dominique’s Kitchen is located at 522 S. Pacific Coast Hwy. in Redondo Beach. For more information, call 424-247-9054 or visit the website at dominiqueskitchen.com. We really enjoyed the happy hour and I’ll be sure to give you the lowdown as soon as we sample the dinner menu.

My new BFF is hosting a very special event tonight! Try the rarest beers on the market at the Total Wine & More ‘Tap These!’ Beer Tasting event on Thursday. Total Wine & More will take you behind the scenes of some of the most extraordinary and flavorful beers in the world from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This beer class will be held at all California Total Wine & More stores, including the Redondo Beach superstore. This is your chance to discover something completely new and the cost is only $15 per person! Call now to make reservations as seating is limited. Total Wine & More is located at 1505 Hawthorne Boulevard at South Bay Marketplace in Redondo Beach. For more information, call 310-542-1460 or visit the website at totalwine.com.

The Southern California Slack Key Festival returns to the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center on Sunday for one performance only at 2 p.m. The Festival honors one of the world’s great acoustic guitar traditions, “slack key” (ki hoʼalu) and features the most respected names in Hawaiian guitar music in the most prestigious Hawaiian music concert event on the mainland. The 2013 Festival celebrates the music from the Grammy nominated soundtrack for The Descendants, the first major motion picture to feature slack key music exclusively in its soundtrack and many of the artists from the recording will be performing. The Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center is located at 1935 Manhattan Beach Boulevard in Redondo Beach. For more information call 562-556-4824. For ticket purchase, visit the website.

If you have not been to Tapas & Vino yet, you are in for a treat! Our newest advertiser is currently running a Not Just Tapas & Vino Campaign exclusively for our audience! Mention The South Bay Show or South Bay by Jackie and receive 25% off a lunch or brunch entrée. Or just tell them Jackie sent you! Tapas & Vino is located at 1729 S. Catalina Ave. in Redondo Beach. For more information, visit the website at tapasyvino.com or call 310-791-8200. Just a friendly reminder—it’s time to start thinking about Valentine’s Day reservations—you don’t want to be left out in the cold!

As always, check the calendar links and ‘Things to Do’ page on my website, southbaybyjackie.com, for details on these and other events throughout the South Bay.

On The South Bay Show this morning, our guest Steve Aspel. Steve is running for Mayor of Redondo Beach. Don’t worry, if you missed it, you can listen to it online.

Have a great South Bay weekend!

Jackie
