The South Bay by Jackie Weekend Guide is THE source for leisure activities and events happening throughout the South Bay!

The Super Bowl is this Sunday and no matter what you plan on doing for the game, you can’t miss the South Bay’s biggest event of the year – the Redondo Beach Super Bowl Sunday 10K/5K Run/Walk & Baby Buggy 10K takes place Sunday morning. Everybody will be there!

There are only two days left to take advantage of dineLA! dineLA Restaurant Week is a bi-annual dining event established to introduce diners to the extensive assortment of restaurants in neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles County. dineLA Winter Restaurant Week takes place over 12 consecutive days and runs from January 21 through February 1. Local foodies and visitors to the area will have the opportunity to enjoy a selection of specially priced prix fixe menus from some of LA’s best restaurants during this this period. It should come as no surprise that a variety of restaurants throughout the South Bay will be participating in this culinary event: BALEENKitchen, Gaetano’s, Gonpachi, Il Fornaio, Rock ‘n Fish, The Strand House and Zinc @Shade among others. Some of the restaurants will feature lunch, some will offer dinner and some will present both so be sure to check the website at http://discoverlosangeles.com/restaurantweekv2/. Diners may make a reservation online at Open Table or contact the restaurant directly. Due to the popularity of this event, advance reservations are strongly recommended. Walk-ins are welcome but there is no guarantee they can be accommodated. This is a great opportunity to sample something different and it’s sure to whet your appetite without emptying your wallet!

Join more than 9,000 race enthusiasts at the South Bay’s biggest Super Bowl event! Now in its 35th year, the Redondo Beach Super Bowl Sunday 10K/5K Run/Walk & Baby Buggy 10K is a terrific way to celebrate the biggest day in American sports. Enjoy the picturesque sites of Redondo Beach – the Pacific Ocean, the Redondo Beach Pier, the Marina in King Harbor and the Wyland whale mural – as you make your way along the race route. Bank of Manhattan presents LA Networking Matters’ 4th annual networking for a cause event Network Your Heart Out…It Matters! at the Manhattan Country Club on Wednesday, February 20. Networking Matters’ mission is to bring together influential business leaders from the South Bay and Palos Verdes Peninsula in a fun, networking environment to raise money and awareness for meaningful charities in the communities they serve. Each year, the Networking Matters Committee selects two local charities that will benefit from the event proceeds. This year’s beneficiaries are the Toberman Neighborhood Center and Peninsula Seniors. This year also introduces a new partnership with LA Networking Matters and the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce. In addition to supporting the two non-profit organizations, LA Networking Matters will also be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce’s High School Scholarship Fund. It’s a terrific opportunity to meet, mix and mingle with like-minded individuals and local business owners. You’ll also have an opportunity to take part in the popular raffle. Corporate sponsors and local businesses provide an array of amazing items for the drawing including hotel stays, gift certificates for restaurants, shops and services and merchandise from local retailers. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the event runs until 8:30 p.m. Pre-order tickets by Monday, February 18, and receive a discounted rate of only $30 per person. Tickets at the door will be $35.
