I’ve been to Hot’s Kitchen a couple of times since they opened for business in 2010 but only for drinks with a group of friends. I’d never really looked at the menu.
That was all rectified Memorial Day weekend when JB, my friend Missy and I stopped in following an afternoon spent trolling Fiesta Hermosa.
We started with an appetizer of Cajun shrimp—which were spicy and delicious—but were quickly distracted by the back page of the menu which features about 50 different types of tacos!
I was intrigued by the more adventurous offerings and ordered the fried chicken, oxtail, green curry and dirty bird. JB and Missy were already a little queasy from eating greasy fair food and ordered some of the more traditional items—the original, Mom’s favorite, Baja fish and Korean tacos. We ordered eight different items, and each one was more delicious than the last!
We were so very full and feeling good when Chef Sean Chaney came by and insisted—insisted!—we try the sliders. How could we refuse!?! I didn’t know it was possible to share a slider between three people but they were so good—the foie gras, fat and old Rasputin—we resisted the urge to devour them whole and shared them with each other.
Chef Sean Chaney will be our guest this Thursday, June 7, on The South Bay Show. You can listen to the program here: blogtalkradio.com/thesouthbayshow/2012/06/07/the-south-bay-show
