Jackie's South Bay Weekend Guide for November 21, 2013

It’s going to be a little quieter than usual around the South Bay next week due to the Thanksgiving holiday. However, once December rolls around it’s going to get a little nutty. There are dozens of holiday events taking place throughout the month, with many of them occurring on the same day. You won’t be able to attend them all, so make your plans now so you don’t miss any of your favorites!

Plaza El Segundo welcomes the holiday season with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 22. The merriment commences at 5 p.m. with Radio Disney broadcasting live through 7 p.m. in front of The Counter. The family friendly festivities will feature live entertainment with performances by the El Segundo High School Chamber Choir, The El Segundo Middle School Choir, Legacy Dance Academy and more. Free hay rides will be available from 6 to 9 p.m. to transport guests between the three activity areas. Additional activities include the Elf on the Shelf scavenger hunt, stilt walkers, balloons, costumed characters, special guests, face painting and free treats. The Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place alongside the fountain near Pinkberry from 7 to 7:30 p.m. Families may also visit with Santa and take photos on the Whole Foods patio for $10 from 5 to 9 p.m. Plaza El Segundo is conveniently located on Sepulveda Boulevard just north of Rosecrans Avenue.
