Jackie's South Bay Weekend Guide for November 7, 2013

Don’t say I didn’t warn you…..Since Thanksgiving falls so late this year, the official holiday shopping season is a week short. What that means, is every local holiday event will take place within a tight time frame with multiple events happening simultaneously. You’re going to have to choose which events you want to attend this season.

In preparation for the holiday season, Total Wine & More is offering a Sparkling Wine and Champagne Tasting Class on November 7. This tasting seminar will help guests find the ideal sparkling wine or Champagne to match their palate, as well as their budget. Guests will taste eight sparkling wines at the event, including Crémant de Bourgogne and four stunning selections from Champagne, France including elegant Grand Cru selections. The Sparkling Wine and Champagne Tasting is only $25 per person. Seating is limited and reservations are highly recommended! The event will be held at the Total Wine & More superstore located at 1505 Hawthorne Boulevard in South Bay Marketplace. For more information and to make reservations, call 310-542-1460 or visit the website at http://www.totalwine.com.

It’s time for the GI Joe Fall Pier to Pier Run/Walk! The event takes place on Saturday, November 9 and gets underway at 7 a.m. at the Hermosa Beach Pier. Challenge family, friends and co-workers to take part in this very popular South Bay activity. The course goes from the Hermosa Beach Pier to the Manhattan Beach Pier and back, in the sand, and covers a total of four miles. The runner with the fastest course time – male and female – wins $100. Registration is $35. Team and family sign-ups are available at a 5% discount. For additional information and registration, visit the website at http://www.active.com/hermosa-beach-ca/running/races/fall-pier-2-pier-run-walk-2013.

If you plan to honor our warriors this Veterans Day, Monday, November 11, I’ve compiled a list of local military memorial sites located throughout the South Bay. Official services are planned at most of these sites over the holiday weekend. You can view the list here: http://southbaybyjackie.com/south-bay-military-memorial-sites/.

The King Harbor Yacht Club has scheduled the annual Holiday Boat Parade for Saturday, December 14. Everyone is invited to participate in this fabulous holiday tradition and boat owners are encouraged to take part and register their vessels at http://khbf.org/. Several sponsorship packages are also available. For additional information, visit the website at http://www.khyc.org/.

We’re going to remind you every week for the next month - The South Bay Show will be doing a live, two hour simulcast of the Holiday Boat Parade from KHYC beginning at 5 p.m. at http://BoatParadeRadio.TheSouthBayShow.com. We will also be hosting a live Google Hangout at http://BoatParadeTV.TheSouthBayShow.com.

As always, check the calendar links and ‘Things to Do’ page on my website, www.southbaybyjackie.com, for details on these and other events throughout the South Bay.

On The South Bay Show this morning, we chatted with renowned, local photographer John Post. Don’t worry, if you missed it, you can listen to it here: http://southbaybyjackie.com/november-7-2013-john-post-photographer/.

One last note – we’ve recently added a new program to The South Bay Show line-up. Every Monday morning at 8 a.m. you can tune into Real Estate Today with our fun, new co-host and producer, Ralph Ferdinand.

Have a fabulous South Bay weekend
