Here we go…. the holidays are upon us. Are you ready?

Santa has arrived at Del Amo Fashion Center! He’s nestled in his Winter Wonderland in JoAnn’s Court and will be posing for photos and taking holiday wishes through Christmas Eve and there are several special events scheduled over the next few weeks. Santa Saturday happens on November 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Join Santa as he parades from Macy’s North to the Children’s Place. Children can participate in crafts and holiday-themed activities. Treats will be provided. Everyone is invited to attend the Menorah Lighting and Display on Sunday, December 1 from 4 to 6 p.m. Chabad of South Bay will host the annual Menorah Lighting Ceremony in the Outdoor Promenade. The ceremony will take place at sundown. There will be crafts, goodie bags and entertainment compliments of Chabad of South Bay. The Menorah will be on display in the Outdoor Promenade from November 27 through December 6. Kidgits Sunrise with Santa happens on Saturday, December 7 from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. in JoAnn’s Court. This private event offers Kidgits members a chance to meet Santa in a relaxed setting. The event will include light refreshments, crafts, premium gifts and more.  The Salvation Army Giving Tree will be at Mall Entrance 2 next to Old Navy. Everyone is invited to pick out an Angel Gift Request from the tree and help those in the community that are less fortunate this holiday season. Don’t panic if you spot Elvis hanging out in the South Bay in the coming days. El Segundo Museum of Art is sponsoring a professional Elvis impersonator contest at Old Town Music Hall in El Segundo tonight, Thursday, November 14. ESMoA Experience 06: Elvis Who? focuses on the Elvis of the 1950s, with an international assemblage of professional impersonators staging an open concert starting at 7 p.m. ADMISSION IS FREE but seats for this event are limited. The Western Museum of Flight will be offering a T-6 Flight Experience on Saturday, November 16. Two types of flights will be offered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Pattern Flights lasting 15 minutes for $165 and Area Flights lasting 40 minutes for $375. Each flight will be conducted by a Safety Certified Commemorative Air Force Pilot. Before or after your flight, be sure to take a tour of the Museum’s extensive displays. The Kiwanis Club of Rolling Hills Estates presents the 47 Annual Palos Verdes Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, November 16. The event gets underway at 7 a.m. and features a half-marathon for teams and individuals. The 5K run/walk and school challenge begins at 7:30 a.m. The course starts and finishes at Pelican Cove adjacent to Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes and follows the coastline. Energy bars, Gatorade and fresh fruit will be available on the course as well as plenty of water. Custom designed medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each five year age division. All half marathon finishers will receive a technical shirt and medal. An expo featuring a variety of South Bay businesses will be held following the race. Bottoms up, fellas! Join Cancer Support Community-Redondo Beach as they present Suds and Staches to commemorate ‘Movember’ (mustache growing month) and raise awareness for men’s cancers. This ‘Men Only’ fundraising event, in partnership with Red Car Brewery and Restaurant, will be held on Sunday, November 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. Guys will enjoy a fun-filled evening with delicious pub food, best mustache contest, hole-in-one putting contest and a tour of the brewery from Brew Master and owner Bob Brandt. The event will also include a silent auction and an opportunity drawing with the chance to win a great prize. The cost is $75 per person and reservations are highly recommended. The Downtown Manhattan Beach Business Association presents the 24 Annual Holiday Open House and Pier Lighting on Wednesday, November 20 from 6 to 9 p.m. Get in the spirit of the season and enjoy an evening of holiday music, shopping and dining. Downtown merchants will be open until 9 p.m. and will present some distinctive gift ideas and intriguing offers this holiday season. The Pier Lighting Ceremony will commence at 6 p.m. with live entertainment. The Mayor will flip the switch at 7 p.m. and illuminate the Pier with holiday lights.
