AES Redondo power plant sets new record
Yep, AES' Redondo Beach power plant set a new record for the first quarter of 2014. It ran less than 0.01% of its capacity.... that's right less than 1/100th of 1% of its rated capacity.... demonstrating yet again that we do not need power from this site for our grid reliability even with San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant offline.
AES makes money whether the plant runs or not. And that means each of us is paying extra for it to just sit there and blight our waterfront. City studies show that the power plant has adversely impact surrounding businesses and property values and that has in turn impacted city tax revenues.
Time and time again, the evidence shows it is time to permanently retire this power plant.
