AES, your nose is growing (again)

Once again, AES gets caught making inaccurate statements in its application to the CEC to replace their Redondo power plant.  Here is the latest finding by the CEC Staff:

"In the RBEP application for certification the applicant [AES] stated that recycled water is not available for project use. The applicant stated that the West Basin Municipal Water District has a recycled water pipeline that is used to supply recycled water to the King Harbor Yacht Club adjacent to the project site, but that the WBMWD does not have the capacity to supply recycled water to the project as it does not produce recycled water in sufficient amounts to meet its current clientele.

Energy Commission staff contacted Mr. Walters of the WBMWD to verify the information supplied by the applicant. Staff learned that the WBMWD pipeline that supplies recycled wastewater to the King Harbor Yacht Club is a 12-inch pipeline and that it does have the extra capacity and availability to supply disinfected tertiary treated recycled water to the RBEP. WBMWD would even pay for the permit application to the department of public health and also for the construction of the additional pipeline that would connect the RBEP to the existing 12-inch pipeline. The WBMWD also expressed willingness to work with the applicant on the engineering of the connections from the RBEP to the existing pipeline. WBMWD also informed staff that the rate charged for recycled water through June 2014 is $904 per acre-foot."

Between misleading/untrue campaign mailers, statements and submissions to the public and City, and now their CEC application, if AES were Pinocchio, they would not even be able to see the end of their nose anymore.
