Leave root beer floats for the kids... Select Beer Store and L.A. Wonders are hosting a "Beer and Ice Cream Floats" event on Sunday, Dec. 9 from noon until 6 p.m.

Gourmet ice cream sandwich truck Chunk n' Chip will be on hand to create four different beer floats and serve a special beer infused ice cream sandwich.

Hot's Kitchen | Hermosa Beach

Hot's will also host a beer dinner featuring Hangar 24 Brewery on Thursday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m.

From Hot's:

The featured brewery is Hangar 24 from Redlands, Ca and we will be pairing 5 of their beers with 5 dishes of ours (dishes TBD). The cost will be $60 per person with taxes and gratuity included. People can buy tickets at Hots and we will take their names, phone numbers and email addresses. We are asking people to bring in their receipts and we will also be emailing them out to those who purchased just in case.

Naja's Place | Redondo Beach

It is that time of year—time for ugly Christmas sweaters.

Taking part in the sweater tackiness is Naja's Place which will hold a Christmas Beer/Keep the Glass Festival on Thursday, Dec. 6 starting at 8 p.m.

Anyone wearing an ugly Christmas sweater or Christmas pajamas will receive $1 off their beers.

Breweries

Smog City Brewing | Torrance

Smog City co-owner Laurie sends along this update on the new brewery's construction:

After many long months Smog City Brewing has broken ground and is moving along smoothly. With demolition already complete, we expect the plumbers and electricians to begin their work Wednesday.

In the meantime, we're churning out a new specialty beer, Sabre-Toothed Squirrel. Coming to bars and restaurants soon! Keep an eye on Smog City's construction through their blog: smogcitybeer.wordpress.com

Strand Brewing Co. | Torrance

On Tuesday, Dec. 18, Strand will celebrate its third anniversary with a Strand Pint Night at Simmzys in Manhattan Beach.

Four Strand beers, including some specialties, will be included on tap including:

Special Release 3rd Anniversary Ale (Bagheera-East India Pale Ale): Cinnamon, clove, cumin, curry, with fresh ginger, toasted coconut and whole tamarind fruit.

Black Sand Double IPA: Impeccable balance of hops with a strong malt backbone.

24th Street Pale Ale: A staple and mainstay on the Simmzys tap list for 3 years. A staff and customer favorite as the "go to" burger and beer pairing.

Beach House Amber: Toasted caramel notes abound in the full bodied take on the traditional amber ale.

Sunday: Noon-6 p.m.

El Segundo Brewing | El Segundo 

The brewers are also hard at work preparing to release the brewery's newest beer—Standard Crude Imperial Stout—on Dec. 14.

Thursday: 5-9 p.m.
Friday: 5-9 p.m.
Saturday: 2-9 p.m.
