In Support of Cliff Numark for El Camino Trustee

Cliff Numark, Councilman in the City of Torrance, is running for El Camino Trustee. I am supporting him in the Nov. 5 election because he is a supporter of SoCal ROC.

His opponent would like to see it closed. In the forum Wednesday night his opponent said that he wants to bring "vocational educational training right into El Camino, because that’s the model that the governor is proposing. And I have to say that I agree with it."

The idea is flawed and El Camino would be hard pressed to serve the thousands of high school students taking classes at SoCal ROC each day. How would El Camino College absorb 2,000 high school students a day? How would they arrange transportation from our local schools? Where would the classroom and instructional materials come from? Where would these classes be held? Who would be teaching these classes?

I would rather see a supporter or SoCal ROC who wants to work with it as Trustee of El Camino College rather than someone who wants to shut it down and take it over.
