Just like all other business owners, I have been guilty being in my own little world, not paying attention to what's happening in the community. I recently hired a new Public Relations Director and decided to go out and meet other business owners during his training period.
It was worse than I thought. Many businesses are slow and struggling to keep busy.
At the same time, I was disappointed to find so many small business owners unwilling to meet and discuss how we all can help each other. My office is a medical clinic specializing in physical medicine. Everyone wants to live pain free and be healthy...I would hope?
We are competing with the large hospitals buying up all of the smaller medical practices and flooding too many patients into one office, making the doctors work harder, as the hospitals make more money. Patient care is loss in all of this and that is what matters the most!
I believe small businesses should come together and cross promote more effectively. Chambers of Commerce are great, but we need to connect in a more efficient way.
