The New Store

In 2012, Nordstrom announced that they will relocate to Del Amo Fashion Center in the remodeled North Wing, which was a parking lot, back then. That summer, work began on Del Amo's North Mall, starting with the food court (which relocated to the bridge above Carson Street).

Roughly after they finished, they began tearing down the original Bullock's wing, to make way for Nordstrom, which will connect to the Macy's Women's store (formerly Bullock's). The construction will take up to 21 months.

After Nordstrom settles in at Del Amo, once the new wing opens next year, who do you think will occupy the old building that Nordstrom leased? My money is on Bloomingdale's, based on how beautiful the exterior looks.

Once Nordstrom moves to Del Amo, all of the original department stores that were a part of the Galleria, when it opened in 1985, have been replaced, with:
1. May Co., which opened in 1959, as part of the original open-air shopping-center, was rebranded to Robinsons-May in 1993, and became Macy's, effective September 2006.
2. Kohl's took over Mervyn's in 2009.
3. An unconfirmed tenant will replace the Nordstrom building in 2016/17.

That's all for now.
