The passenger also had an outstanding arrest warrant on driver's license violations.

The driver was arrested on the warrant without incident and placed in the police vehicle, police said; however, the woman refused to comply with the officers' commands and resisted attempts to handcuff her.

She was eventually taken into custody on the arrest warrant, as well as on suspicion of battery against an officer and on suspicion of resisting arrest.

The two were booked into the Redondo Beach jail. During the booking search, a controlled substance was discovered on the passenger. She was also booked on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

Residential burglary

Police are searching for the burglar who stole personal items worth more than $1,000 from a home in the 2600 block of Gates Avenue, authorities said.

The culprit used a pry tool to force open a rear window and enter the residence between 6:30 and 9 p.m. Saturday.

Crime scene investigators collected evidence at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
