Blotter: Burglar Tries to Kick Down Door

The following information is from the Redondo Beach Police Department's Part I Crime Recap news release covering reports received Oct. 18-23. Information for the Hollywood Riviera comes from the Torrance Police Department's online crime map.

Commercial burglaries in Redondo Beach

A commercial burglary in the 300 block of South Pacific Coast Highway last Sunday night may be related to a similar crime in Hermosa Beach, according to police. Glenn A. Martin, Raymond Sturgeon and Felicia Lancaster were arrested on suspicion of burglary in connection to the incident. According to police, the trio entered an open business, hid items and tried to leave without paying. They were apprehended before leaving the store, police said. No loss was reported as the items were recovered.

Johnny Brock was arrested last Saturday evening on suspicion of burglary. Police believe he walked into an open business in the 1500 block of Hawthorne Boulevard, removed a security sensor and left without paying. No loss was reported as the items were recovered.

Residential burglaries in Redondo Beach

A MacBook Pro was stolen from an open and unlocked garage in the 1900 block of Huntington Lane at some point between Monday night and early Tuesday morning.

Oscar Jiminez was arrested on suspicion of burglary Monday evening. Police believe he and another man who was not otherwise described removed a window screen on a home in the 1800 block of Harriman Lane. Once the screen was removed, the burglars slid the window open, entered and left with a laptop, jewelry and a flat screen television, police said. The flat screen television was recovered.

A gold and diamond tennis bracelet was stolen Aug. 18 from the 1700 block of Herrin Lane. The culprit entered the home "via bodily force to sliding glass door."

A burglar tried to break into a home in the 1900 block of Havemeyer Lane on Oct. 17-18 by smashing the rear window and kicking the rear door. No loss was reported as the burglar did not gain entry.

A Mac laptop, iPad, jewelry and jewelry box, cash, checkbook, Galaxy tablet and electronic plugs were stolen Oct. 18 from the 2200 block of Curtis Ave. The burglar removed the window screen on an open window to get in.

No loss was reported after someone tried unsuccessfully to enter "via bodily force to (the) bathroom window" of a home in the 200 block of South Guadalupe Avenue.

A Diamondback women's bike was stolen at some point Oct. 15-16 from the 700 block of the Esplanade. The thief somehow entered the home and cut the bicycle's lock.

Residential burglary in the Hollywood Riviera

Someone took keys, cash, watches, a wallet and sunglasses without permission from a residence in the 300 block of Palos Verdes Boulevard on Oct. 12. The suspect had permission to be at the residence at that time.

Theft in the Hollywood Riviera

A resident in the 300 block of Paseo de la Playa on Oct. 11 paid some people to repair dents in the victim's vehicle. The people left to pick up supplies, but never returned to perform the work.

On Oct. 17, someone cut a lock securing a bicycle to a rack in the 300 block of Paseo de la Playa and stole the bicycle.

Vehicle burglary in Redondo Beach

Someone smashed a window and stole a purse and its contents from a 2013 Honda Pilot parked in the 200 block of Flagler Lane on Saturday.

Vehicle burglary in the Hollywood Riviera

Someone smashed the window of a vehicle parked in the 6100 block of Pacific Coast Highway on Oct. 15 and stole cosmetics.

Stolen vehicles in Redondo Beach

A 2012 white Volkswagen Jetta, license plate No. 6UFL037, was stolen from the 200 block of Yacht Club Way at some point over the weekend.
