Blotter: Comic Book Theft

The following information is from the Redondo Beach Police Department's Part I Crime Recap news release covering reports received Aug. 16-22.

Information for the Hollywood Riviera section of Torrance, where properties have Redondo Beach addresses, is from the Torrance Police Department's online crime map.


Residential burglaries

A burglar used a rear window or door to break into a home in the 2800 block of Fisk Lane at some point between 8:20 a.m. and 5:10 p.m. last Tuesday. A MacBook, cash and jewelry were stolen.

A resident in the 600 block of North Juanita Avenue was the victim of a door-knock burglary at about 9 a.m. Aug. 19. According to police, the two culprits knocked on the victim's door and said they were from the water company. One coaxed the victim outside while the other entered the home and stole jewelry and currency. The burglars were described as a 28-year-old, 5-foot-8-inch white man with a thin build and a 28-year-old, 5-foot-3-inch white woman with a thin build.

A burglar stole jewelry, cash, makeup and comic books from a residence in the 2700 block of Ralston Lane on Aug. 19. The culprit climbed into the home through a window in the den.

Someone stole money from a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe parked in an open garage in the 2200 block of Voorhees Lane at some point between Aug. 14-15.

Vehicle burglary in the Hollywood Riviera

Someone removed the weather stripping on the window of a vehicle parked in the 800 block of Calle de Arboles on Aug. 17. No loss was reported.

Stolen and recovered vehicles

Officers with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Temple Station on Aug. 16 recovered a green 1967 Volkswagen Beetle that was stolen from the 700 block of Avenue C overnight between Aug. 15-16.

A green 1997 Honda Civic, license No. 3XCC181, was stolen from the 1500 block of Beryl Street on Aug. 15.

Redondo Beach police officers on Aug. 15 recovered a blue 1997 Honda Civic stolen from the 2600 block of Grant Avenue that morning.

A black 2008 trailer containing a black 2008 Yamaha motorcycle and a black 1985 Kawasaki motorcycle stolen July 26 from the 1300 block of Kingsdale Avenue was recovered by Redondo Beach police Aug. 19.

On Aug. 19, Redondo Beach officers recovered a red 2007 Honda CRF150R motorcycle stolen from the 700 block of North Catalina Avenue on Jan. 29.
