A DUI and drivers license checkpoint is scheduled for Thursday night somewhere within Redondo Beach city limits, according to a news release from the .
The checkpoint will run from 7 p.m. Thursday to 2 a.m. Friday at an undisclosed location, police said.
A second checkpoint is scheduled for Friday night from 7 p.m. until 2 a.m. Saturday at an undisclosed location.
At both checkpoints, officers will be checking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment, as well as proper licensing.
Motorists caught driving under the influence face jail, license suspension, insurance increases, fines, fees, DUI classes and other expenses that can exceed $10,000.
The two DUI checkpoints fall a week after a on drunken and drug-impaired motorists. The "Avoid the 100" campaign included several deployments in the South Bay and netted 550 arrests, authorities said earlier this week.
