Man Dies Nearly 2 Weeks After Car Crash

The man appeared to have suffered only minor injuries after the Nov. 27 crash, though he was hospitalized as a precaution.

An elderly man died earlier this month after crashing his car into a tree on Aviation Boulevard on Nov. 27, according to a recent news release from the Redondo Beach Police Department.

Police said the 92-year-old man, who was not otherwise identified, suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported to the hospital that day to be evaluated as a precaution.

"(The driver) complained of pain but otherwise was walking and talking with officers on scene," according to the news release.

Nevertheless, the driver died Dec. 7 "as an apparent result of injuries sustained in the traffic collision," according to the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office, police said.

The RBPD's traffic unit is investigating.
