Man Injured in 2-Car Crash

It's not known if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.

One person was taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Palos Verdes Boulevard on the Torrance-Redondo Beach border Saturday night.

The crash occurred at about 8:15 p.m. when a white vehicle traveling south on Pacific Coast Highway made a wide right turn onto Palos Verdes Boulevard, hitting a silver sedan waiting to turn onto northbound Pacific Coast Highway in the left-turn lane, according to officers from the Redondo Beach Police Department and a witness at the scene.

The witness told Patch that the driver turned wide to avoid a car stopped in the far right lane on Palos Verdes Boulevard.

The driver of the silver car complained of pain and was transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital.

Because the incident occurred on the south side of the intersection, the investigation will be handled by the Torrance Police Department.

A Torrance police officer conducted a sobriety test on the driver of the white vehicle; however, the results of that test were not immediately clear, and it's not currently known if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
