A 50-year-old man was killed during a single-vehicle crash in the Hollywood Riviera, the Coroner's Office said Sunday.

Jay Martin Glaser, a resident of Rolling Hills Estates, was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:05 a.m. Saturday by the Torrance Fire Department, from a crash in the 300 block of Palos Verdes Boulevard, near the city's border with Redondo Beach at Catalina Avenue, said Coroner's Lt. Fred Corral.

Corral said Glaser was the only person inside his vehicle.

A watch commander from the Torrance Police Department could not be reached for immediate comment. The Hollywood Riviera is an area in the city of Torrance where the properties have Redondo Beach addresses.

Glaser worked as a defense attorney in the law firm of Long Beach-based Glaser, Damone and Schroeder, according to the Long Beach Press-Telegram.

Heard it happen that night... I live just across the street. The crash was so violent that it shook the house and woke me up. However when I looked out the window, I saw nothing and thought an old tree must have fell. 10 minutes later I saw the EMT lights flashing and knew right then someone had crashed. There was no sound of skidding or breaking either. It had to have been instant. My condolences to the family.
