Carl "Mike" Hovland of Rollings Hills is scheduled for sentencing March 6 after pleading no contest to charges stemming from the theft of mail from numerous Rolling Hills homes.
Hovland, who grew up in the gated city, was living at 77 Eastfield Drive at the time of the mail thefts. He used the stolen mail to commit identify theft, the Lomita Sheriff's Station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.
Hovland was originally arrested on Nov. 14 and charged with burglary, grand theft and theft by access cards.
After posting bail following his arrest, he was taken into custody on Dec. 21 by the Torrance Police Department on suspicion of petty theft/shoplifting. He was released on his own recognizance.
On Jan. 7, Hovland was again arrested, this time by Redondo Beach police in connection with identify theft and narcotics possession. His girlfriend, Taylor Marciano, was also arrested.
Last Thursday, Hovland pleaded no contest to grand theft in connection with the stolen mail and no contest to the identity theft and narcotics charges. His sentencing date is March 6.
The Lomita Sheriff's Station said its investigation is ongoing.
