Man Turns Self in After Fatal Hit-Run
Police say Ryan Mascioni turned himself in after he hit and killed a pedestrian in Lawndale with his car.
A 21-year-old drunken motorist reportedly ran over and killed a woman pedestrian, turned himself in an hour later, and faces drunken driving and other felony charges, a police lieutenant said Saturday.
Ryan Mascioni, a resident of Redondo Beach, was allegedly behind the wheel of an Audi that sped past vehicles which had stopped for the woman in the 13000 block of Hawthorne Boulevard at about 11 p.m. Friday, said Hawthorne police Lt. Scott Swain.
The woman was trying to cross the northbound lanes of Hawthorne Boulevard in the rain, and a car in the middle of three lanes stopped for her. As the woman entered the third lane, closest to the curb, she was struck by a speeding yellow Audi, witnesses said.

After striking the woman, the vehicle smashed into two parked vehicles before it was driven away. A witness at the crash described the car to police.
Paramedics rushed the pedestrian, a woman, to Harbor General Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, Swain said.

About an hour after the crash, Mascioni turned himself into the sheriff's Lawndale station.
The name of the woman will be released pending notification of next of kin, Swain said.
