Police Investigating Riviera Village Crash

Police are still investigating a collision between a pickup truck and a parked car in the city parking lot next to South Elena Avenue.

A collision between a pickup truck and a parked minivan Sunday afternoon in Riviera Village is still under investigation, according to the .

Nobody was seriously injured in the collision, said acting traffic unit Sgt. Jeffrey Mendence on Tuesday. Personnel from the police department and the responded to the collision.

A witness who works at a nearby business told Patch that he saw the pickup racing through the long, skinny parking lot next to South Elena Avenue. Skid marks indicate that the truck swerved onto Catalina Avenue, swung through the Sandpiper Square parking lot and ran into the minivan after leaving the lot.

The witness also said the driver claimed his accelerator had stuck.

"We have not had a chance to review the stuck accelerator claim yet," Mendence said.

According to the witness, there was one passenger in the pickup truck.
