A motorcycle rider died from injuries suffered in a collision with a vehicle on Pacific Coast Highway on the border between Torrance and Redondo Beach on Sunday, authorities said Monday.
The 38-year-old Torrance man, declared dead at a hospital, was fatally injured about 12:45 p.m. Sunday in the 5900 block of Pacific Coast Highway, said Torrance police Lt. Stephen D'anjou.
He was riding a Harley-Davidson south on Pacific Coast Highway when it collided with a Lexus that had just entered the roadway from a private driveway, D'anjou said.
The 78-year-old woman driving the Lexus was uninjured, D'anjou said.
Pacific Coast Highway in the area was closed for more than two hours between Prospect Avenue and Palos Verdes Boulevard as officers conducted their investigation.
Because the crash occurred on the southern side of the street, the investigation is being handled by the Torrance Police Department.
Anyone who saw the crash was urged to call police at 310-618-5557.—City News Service, with additional reporting by editor Nicole Mooradian.
