Police: Suspect Challenged Sergeant to Fight

A suspect was booked into jail after challenging a member of an anti-DUI task force to a fight.

Police booked a suspect into the jail at the Redondo Beach Police Department after he challenged an officer to a fight, according to the Redondo Beach Police Department's Recent Law Enforcement Events news release.

The incident occurred at about 12:42 a.m. Sept. 3.

According to police, RBPD officers responded with lights and sirens to a call for assistance from a sergeant with the UCLA Police Department who was working in Redondo Beach as part of an anti-DUI task force.

"The UCLA sergeant requested help with an intoxicated subject who had challenged him to fight," according to police. "Other DUI task force personnel arrived at the location prior to the arrival of Redondo Beach police personnel and the suspect was taken into custody."

Neither the suspect nor the anticipated charges were revealed in the news release.
