Redondo Beach Crime: Meat Theft

The Redondo Beach Police Department recently dealt with a couple of burglaries and a strong-arm robbery in a bathroom at the Redondo Beach Pier, according to the department's Part I Crime Recap covering reports received Oct. 25 through last Wednesday.

Commercial burglaries in Redondo Beach

A burglar forced open the sliding glass window of a business on the Redondo Beach Pier at some point between the evening of Oct. 28 and the morning of Oct. 29 and stole a television, energy drinks and Gatorade.

Police are searching for two men who walked into a grocery store in the 1400 block of Hawthorne Boulevard and stole packaged meats. One of the shoplifters fled on foot, while the other took off in a silver 2001 Chevrolet Impala, license No. 6UIR410. Both burglars were described as black men in their 30s. One was about 5-feet-8-inches tall and weighed about 170 pounds, while the other was described as having a heavy build.

Burglars attempted to tunnel into a business on the Redondo Beach Pier on Oct. 21 before prying the door open. No loss was reported.

Bathroom robbery

Police are searching for three men in connection with an assault in a public restroom on the Redondo Beach Pier on Oct. 23 at about 4:30 p.m.

According to police reports, the men approached the victim from behind. Two of the assailants punched the victim in the face and stole two cellphones as a third kept watch.

The three culprits were described as Hispanic males. One was about 20 years old and 5-feet-7-inches tall with a medium build, while a second was about 18 years old and 5-feet-5-inches tall with a large build. No further description was available for the third.

Residential burglaries in Redondo Beach

Two Schwinn bicycles and an Electra Amsterdam three-speed bicycle were stolen from an open garage in the 1500 block of Felton Lane at some point between the evening of Oct. 26 and the morning of Oct. 27.

A burglar walked into a garage in the 400 block of South Catalina Avenue, cut a lock and stole a beach cruiser at some point between Oct. 18 and 23.

Vehicle burglary

A burglar smashed the rear windshield of a locked 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe parked in the 200 block of North Harbor Drive on the morning of Oct. 27 and stole a purse containing a wallet, cash, credit cards and a makeup bag.

A purse with currency, credit cards and a driver's license was stolen from a 2007 GMC Yukon parked in the 1700 block of Blossom Lane at some point between the evening of Oct. 24 and the morning of Oct. 25. The burglar punched the driver's side door to enter the locked SUV.

Stolen vehicles

A silver 2005 Chrysler Sebring, license No. BSHS363, was stolen Oct. 26 from the intersection of Juanita and Diamond streets.

A black 2010 Ford F-150 truck, license No. 8S84111, was stolen from the 500 block of Anita Street at some point between the evening of Oct. 23 and the morning of Oct. 24.
