Redondo Beach Crime: Tailgate Stolen

The following information was supplied by the Redondo Beach and Torrance police departments. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The Redondo Beach Police Department recently dealt with robberies, stolen vehicles and a couple of burglaries, according to the department's Part I Crime Recap covering reports received Nov. 22 through Wednesday.

The Torrance Police Department also reported a vehicle burglary in the Hollywood Riviera in mid-November.

Commercial robberies in Redondo Beach

Police are searching for a man who tried to steal items from a business at about 11 a.m. Tuesday in the South Bay Galleria. When an employee confronted him, he "use(d) force" and fled. No loss was reported as the items were recovered. The culprit was described as a 16- to 20-year-old black man standing about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing about 155 pounds. He had black hair and black eyes.

Akeem Adolph was arrested on suspicion of robbery Monday evening. According to police, Adolph shoplifted from the business in the 1400 block of Hawthorne Boulevard on Sunday and was trying to do the same on Monday when an employee confronted him. Adolph used force to take the items. No loss was reported as the items were recovered.

Commercial burglaries in Redondo Beach

Police are searching for two people suspected of shoplifting "miscellaneous food items" from a business in the 4000 block of Inglewood Avenue early Sunday afternoon. This was not the first time the culprits were spotted at the business. Police described one culprit as a 30- to 40-year-old black man standing about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. The second culprit is a black woman in her 30s standing 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes. They fled in a newer burgundy Toyota Camry.

Blake West and Sean Boyd were arrested on suspicion of burglary Saturday evening. According to police, the pair walked into Kohls and tried to take items without paying. No loss was reported as the items were recovered.

Residential burglary in Redondo Beach

A Se Racing bike was stolen from an open garage in the 700 block of South Broadway on the afternoon of Nov. 21.

Vehicle burglary in Redondo Beach

Someone pried open the camper shell door of a 1988 Dodge 1500 pickup truck at some point between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning and stole a golf bag with clubs, a digital level and ruler, and duffle bags with tools.

Vehicle burglary in the Hollywood Riviera

The tailgate, step, badges and logos were stolen off a pickup truck parked in the 300 block of Paseo de Gracia at some point between the evening of Nov. 15 and the morning of Nov. 16.

Stolen vehicles in Redondo Beach

A white 2009 Volkswagon Jetta, California license plate No. 6GYT571, was stolen at some point between Nov. 21 and Saturday from the 1900 block of Camino de la Costa.

A tan 2005 Toyota Camry, California license plate No. 5KBY770, was stolen the afternoon of Nov. 21 from the 200 block of South Broadway.

A light blue 1977 Ford F-150 pickup truck, California license plate No. G36792, was stolen from the 1800 block of Inglewood Ave. at some point Nov. 19-20.
