Redondo Police Investigating Apparent Suicide

The Redondo Beach Police Department is investigating the apparent suicide of El Camino College police Officer Anthony Tanori.

Investigators with the Redondo Beach Police Department are looking into the apparent suicide of an El Camino College police officer, according to a news release Redondo police Lt. Joe Hoffman.

Anthony Albert Tanori, 30, was pronounced dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound in his South Redondo Beach home, Hoffman said. A coworker found him shortly before 9 a.m. after Tanori failed to go to work.

There is "no indication at all of any sort of foul play," Hoffman told Patch.

"The Redondo Beach Police Department extends our condolences to Officer Tanori's family and friends as well as all of the members of the El Camino College Police Department," Hoffman wrote in the news release.

Records from El Camino College indicate that Tanori began working the community college's police department in 2009. He was previously a member of the Hawthorne Police Department.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the Tanori family. I worked for the tow co that handled the impound work in hawthorne, and that's where I first met Anthony, and I can honestly say I was blessed to have met him! He had such an infectious smile, and such an up beat personality. Just the kind of guy this world needed more of! So sorry to hear of his leaving, hey Anthony till we meet again buddy keep that smile going. God just needed someone to cheer him up! To his parents, and brother I will pray for you!
