Sailboat Sinks in King Harbor

The sunken vessel poses a hazard to marine traffic coming from the Portofino and King Harbor marinas.

A 34-foot sailboat crashed into the rocks on the breakwall surrounding King Harbor late Thursday night and sank in the King Harbor entrance channel, according to a report from the United States Coast Guard and Vessel Assist.

Three people were aboard the boat; however, all three were able to safely scramble onto the breakwater, according to Vessel Assist. The boat received heavy damage.

The boat is submerged directly in front of the Portofino Hotel. It is considered a hazard to marine traffic as the mast and rigging are sticking out of the water.
