According to police, it costs more than $3,000 to replace the seats because the manufacturer only produces a single set of seats per vehicle. The seats are resold on the black market for less than $1,500.

Police at the Los Angeles Police Department's Van Nuys Station told City News Service that owners of Yukons, Tahoes and Escalades should use cable locks to secure the removable third-row seats.
