Torrance Police Investigating Fatal Crash

Southbound Hawthorne Boulevard was closed between Del Amo Boulevard and the Redondo Beach border at 190th Street for several hours.

Police in Torrance are continuing to investigate a fatal traffic crash that occurred early Tuesday morning in the 20000 block of Hawthorne Boulevard, less than a mile from the Redondo Beach border, according to a news release from the Torrance Police Department.

The crash occurred when a Toyota Camry traveling southbound on Hawthorne Boulevard hit a female adult pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian, who was not otherwise identified due to pending notification of her next of kin, succumbed to her injuries before paramedics from the Torrance Fire Department arrived.

The driver of the Toyota Camry was not injured, and alcohol was not a factor.

Southbound Hawthorne Boulevard was closed for four hours between 190th Street and Del Amo Boulevard.

The Torrance Police Department's Traffic Division is investigating the crash. Anyone with information is encouraged to call 310-618-5557.
