Two-Vehicle Collision on 405 near Artesia Kills One

It happened in the carpool lane.

A man was killed today in a two-vehicle collision on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Torrance, authorities said.

The collision in the HOV lane occurred about 5:10 a.m. just north of Artesia Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The man, who was about 35, died at the scene, said CHP Officer Jennifer Cassidy. Authorities withheld his name, pending family notification.

Four northbound lanes were closed while an investigation was conducted, a closure that was continuing about two and a half hours after the crash.
