CenterCal to Unveil Waterfront Plan at Saturday's Meeting

Saturday's meeting is the fifth in a series designed to get community input on the future of the Redondo Beach waterfront.

CenterCal Properties will unveil a proposed site plan for the Redondo Beach Pier and Redondo Beach Marina area at a public meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, according to the Beach Reporter.

The meeting will take place at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center and is expected to last until noon.

This is the fifth workshop designed for the community to give input on future plans for the waterfront revitalization.

CenterCal CEO Fred Bruning told the Beach Reporter that the plans include a mixture of specialty restaurants, seafood vendors and other retailers, including existing businesses.

"Obviously, we don't want to be anything like Del Amo or the South Bay Galleria," he told the newspaper. "That would be the worst thing we could do. There's too much of that already."

At Saturday's meeting, residents will be able to give feedback on the preliminary plan, which will then be modified before CenterCal presents its general design concept to the Redondo Beach City Council next month.

CenterCal was chosen in 2012 to develop the 15 acres of waterfront property, including the Redondo Beach Pier, International Boardwalk, Redondo Beach Marina and Pier Plaza.

The Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center is located at 1935 Manhattan Beach Blvd. in North Redondo Beach.
