The last day to file paperwork to run as a candidate in the March 5, 2013 Redondo Beach municipal elections is Friday.
Offices up for election are mayor; city council seats for districts one, two, and four; city attorney; and three seats on the Redondo Beach Board of Education.
Those elected will serve four-year terms, and all seats except for that of city attorney are bound by two-term limits.
School board members are elected at large, meaning that the top three vote-getters in the race will be elected. People wishing to run for school board must file a Declaration of Candidacy; however, nominating papers do not need to be filed or circulated.
If an incumbent who is not termed out does not file papers, the filing period will be extended to Wednesday.
The only incumbent who is not termed out is District 2 Councilman Bill Brand, and he has expressed his intention to run for re-election.
All candidates must be residents of Redondo Beach for at least 30 days immediately preceding the filing of election paperwork, according to the city clerk's website.
