SBESC, Edison Sponsor Holiday Light Exchange

People can trade in their strings of incandescent lights for new, energy-efficient LEDs.

The South Bay Environmental Services Center, in conjunction with Southern California Edison, is hosting a free holiday light exchange on Tuesday through Friday.

SCE customers can trade up to two working strings of incandescent holiday lights for two new, energy-efficient LED strings.

Trade-ins will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis and only while supplies last, so those who want to participate should go early. Last year, holiday light exchanges ran out of LED strands.

Because the event is only open to SCE customers, participants should bring a utility bill or driver's license to confirm their identities.

The holiday light exchange will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at 20285 S. Western Ave. in Torrance.
