2 More RBUSD Schools Nominated for Distinguished Honor

Alta Vista and Jefferson elementaries are added to the list of eligible schools.

Two more Redondo Beach elementary schools have been added to the list of schools eligible to apply for the California Distinguished School honor, according to a list published

As of mid-November, only Beryl Heights and Madison elementary schools were nominated for the honor; however, a more recent look at the list revealed that Alta Vista and Jefferson elementary schools are also eligible to apply.

Schools "invited to apply for the Distinguished School honors must meet a variety of eligibility criteria, including designated federal and state accountability measures based on the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and the state's Academic Performance Index requirements," according a news release from a nearby school district.

Honorees will be announced in late March.

Elementary and secondary schools are honored as Distinguished Schools in alternate years.
