students Wednesday morning joined thousands of people worldwide in an attempt to break the Guinness World Records title for the most people doing jumping jacks in a 24-hour period.
According to Beryl PTA President Linda Buck, more than 450 students participated in the effort, called "Let's Jump!"
Buck said she first heard about the effort at the Idea World Conference.
"I kind of thought, 'Hey! That would be a great thing to do at our school,'" she said. "It worked out great."
Let's Jump! is part of First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! campaign, which encourages children and their families to get healthy and active, according to a news release from the Redondo Beach Unified School District. The First Lady kicked off the event Tuesday with one minute of jumping jacks at the White House.
