Prost! This Week's South Bay Craft Beer Events

A weekly look at what is happening on the craft beer scene in the South Bay of Los Angeles.

This week, the South Bay Radio Show featured an entire show about the growing craft beer industry in the South Bay of Los Angeles.

The hour-long show featured multiple beer panelists, local homebrewers, store owners and the head dudes from The Dudes' Brewing Company.

Listen or download the show to hear a great discussion about craft beer in the South Bay.

Here is a look at what is happening on the South Bay's growing craft beer scene this week (July 11-18):

Beer Bars, Restaurants and Stores

Select Beer Store | Redondo Beach

Drake's Aroma Coma Release Party | Thursday, July 11 | 5-10 p.m.

Select Beer Store is hosting the release of Drake's Brewing Aroma Coma and Aroma Prieta. Both are highly sought after, limited release India Pale Ales, weighing in at 6.75% ABV and 75 IBUs.  These sister beers are similar, but the different blend of hops used in each - all piney North American hops for Aroma Coma and fruity and citrus hops from New Zealand for Aroma Prieta - bring out a nice variance on the flavors. Both will be available on draft, along with other great beers from Drake's Brewing. Aroma Coma will also be available to take home in 22oz bottles.

Smog City Brewing Co. | Torrance

"Beer Hunter: The Movie" Free Screening | Sunday, July 21 | 2 p.m.

Smog City will serve up some beer and screen the documentary Beer Hunter. Beer Hunter is a film about beer aficionado, Michael Jackson, funded through kickstarter and Smog City is working in conjunction with Beer Belly, who helped fund the film and who have helped place the desire for "local" to the tips of every beer drinker's tongue, to bring this little film to you.

YOU MUST RSVP to attend this event. Space will be limited to the first 100 people to reserve their space on eventbrite. Please be aware that we only have about 12 chairs so either bring your own or bring a comfy blanket and pillow. We'll be opening up part of the brewery area to make room for an 'indoor picnic-like" setting.

Two new beers are being tapped this weekend at the tap room (as of 7/11):
