South Bay Beer Project 'Phantom Carriage' Launches Thursday
A look at what is happening on the craft beer scene in the South Bay of Los Angeles.
On Thursday night, one of the newest entrants to the South Bay craft beer scene will celebrate the official launch of their locally-brewed beers.
Phantom Carriage, a small batch craft beer project run out of Monkish Brewing in Torrance, will mark the occasion with an official launch party at Naja's Place in Redondo Beach's King Harbor beginning at 7 p.m.
On tap will be "Muis," a Belgian-style wild blonde ale. Limited glassware will also be available with the beer.

Simmzy's | Manhattan Beach
Beach Cleanup & Beer | Saturday, June 22 | 8:30 a.m. - Noon
Simmzy’s is teaming up with Heal the Bay to brighten up Manhattan Beach. Volunteers will meet at Simmzy’s and walk down Manhattan Beach Blvd to participate in a beach cleanup. Those who develop a post-cleanup thirst (or appetite) are invited to head back to Simmzy’s, where they’ll be able to try Golden Road’s new Heal the Bay IPA on tap and help prolong their charitable streak.

Nelson's - Terranea Resort | Rancho Palos Verdes
The Dude's Brewing & Summer Concert Series | June 21 & 22 | 5-9 p.m.
Torrance's The Dudes' Brewing will help kick off the summer concert series in the Nelson's Beer Garden at Terranea both Friday and Saturday nights. Representatives from the Dudes' will pour their lineup of beers for the concerts.

Strand Brewing Beer Dinner | Wednesday, June 26 | 7 p.m.
Only 50 tickets are being sold for this beer dinner with Torrance's Strand Brewing Company. Strand owner Rich is providing 1321 with a beer that no one has – the Cherry Blossom Berliner-Weisse. Rich will also be in attendance guiding guests through each pairing of each course. Tickets can be purchased at http://strandbrewingdinner.eventbrite.com and are expected to sell out.
Monday Night Local Happy Hour | Mondays | 5 p.m. - Close
On Monday nights, 1321 features a $3 local beer night. Every Monday, anything from the South Bay on tap will be $3 after Happy Hour to close. This week's local beers are:

- Strand Atticus (IPA)
- Smog City Groundwork Coffee Porter
- Monkish Brewing Shaolin Fist (Dubbel brewed with sichuan peppers)

Rock & Brews | El Segundo Location
Every Wednesday, Rock & Brews El Segundo will feature a different brewery for pint nights. Pint nights begin at 6 p.m. and those who purchase the featured beer will get to keep a glass from the brewery. Upcoming pint nights, as per South Bay By Jackie are:
- June 26: Ballast Point Pint Night
- July 3, Widmer Brothers
- July 10: “Special Cask” tapping (Brewery TBA)
- July 18: (a Thursday) St. Arnoldus* Day Celebration with Belgian Brews (*Patron Saint of Belgian Beer)

Breweries
Smog City Brewing Co. | Torrance
Smog City is now pouring their popular Little Bo Pils (Pilsner) at their taproom. From the brewer the beer is described as follows: "This unfiltered pale lager is all about subtlety and balance. Expect a delicate spice, a touch of honey, and rustic white bread in the nose. Flavors of bread crust and light malt meet the spice of traditional Czech Saaz hops and while the finish is crisp and bracingly bitter, everything is in balance."
In addition, current beers on tap at Smog City's new Torrance taproom are:

Almanac Brewing Pint Night | Thursday, June 20 | 6 p.m.
The Brewery at Abigaile will host a pint night for Northern California's Almanac Brewing. Five beers will be featured including the much sought after Barrel Noir and Farmer's Reserve #3.
