Your Guide to L.A. Beer Week Events in the South Bay

Discover L.A. Beer Week events in Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and the rest of the South Bay.

LA Beer Week, the biggest week for craft beer in Los Angeles, officially kicks off its fifth year of events Thursday night with the South Bay playing host to many of them.

With the majority of Los Angeles' craft breweries and some of the most highly-rated beer bars located right here in the South Bay, the next seven days will be a dream for the beer lover.

To make your week of beer drinking a little easier Patch has put together a guide to LA Beer Week events in the South Bay. For a full list of L.A. Beer Week events all across Los Angeles, visit the official L.A. Beer Week website.

Thursday, September 19


Dogfish Head Night | Select Beer Store | 5-11 p.m.


Select Beer Store will play host to Deleware's Dogfish Head Brewing with a lineup of their highly-rated and sometimes hard to find beers. Beers on tap will include the coveted 120 Minute IPA, Red & White, Punkin and Burton Baton, among others. Let's Be Frank hot dogs will also serve up food at the event.

South Bay Local Beer Night | Naja's Place | 7:30 p.m.

Naja's Place on the Redondo Beach boardwalk will host the growing list of South Bay and Los Angeles breweries for a local's night. Breweries with beers on tap will include Smog City, The Dudes' Brewing, Strand Brewing, El Segundo Brewing, Beachwood, The Bruery, Golden Road, Bootleggers, Hangar 24, Phantom Carriage, Monkish, Abigaile's, Cismontane, Angel City Brewing and Eagle Rock Brewing. Commemorative glassware will be available while it lasts.

Ballast Point Sculpin Night | BrewCo | 6-11 p.m.

Manhattan Beach's BrewCo will feature five different types of Ballast Point's Sculpin IPA including Sculpin Draught, Sculpin Nitro, Sculpin Grapefruit Cask, Sculpin Grapefruit Draught and Sculpin Habanero. Pint glasses will be given out to the first 50 guests.

Beer Specials | The Brewery at Abigaile | All Week Long

Throughout LA Beer Week, Abigaile will be offering specials on all house-brewed beers. Beer flights with a shirt are $15. There will also be a $4 Abigaile beer each night, all night.

Saturday, September 20


South Bay Beer Progressive | BrewCo, Silvio's, Naja's Place, Select Beer | 5-10 p.m.


For LA Beer Week, enjoy some amazing beers at some of your favorite South Bay craft beer establishments with a free shuttle between each establishment. Each establishment will feature a different brewery. BrewCo will host Stone Brewing, Silvios will host Smog City Brewing, Naja's Place will host The Bruery and Select Beer Store will feature Great Divide Brewing! Shuttle service between Brewco Manhattan Beach, Silvios Brazilian BBQ, Naja's Place and Select Beer Store provided by LA Craft Beer Tours. Hop on and off or buy a wrist band to get you ahead of the line for $10. Visit one of the bars for details.

Bangers & Casks | Tin Roof Bistro, Manhattan Beach | 2:30-5 p.m.

Five local brewers have hand selected "cask" varietals to accompany Chef Anne's "English Bangers & Pub Grub" menu. Breweries with casks on hand will be El Segundo Brewing, Abigaile, Smog City, Strand Brewing and Monkish.

Monday, September 22


Meet the Brewer Night | The Brewery at Abigaile |
5-7:30 p.m.

Patrons will have the chance to chat with head brewer Brian Brewer and will get limited tours of the restaurant's brew house. The event includes tastings of Abigaile beer as well as specials on full pours. Initial ticket sales sold out but more were just added. Visit the Eventbrite page to reserve your tickets.

Golden Road Pint Night | BrewCo Manhattan Beach | 6-11 p.m.

BrewCo in Manhattan Beach will feature Los Angeles' Golden Road Brewing with a lineup of their beers including Berliner-Weisse, Hudson Porter, Hefeweizen, Burning Bush Smoked IPA, Wolf Among Weeds IPA and a Wolf in Heat cask.

Tuesday, September 23


Goose Island Brewing Dinner | Rock & Brews PCH | 6:30-10 p.m.


Rock & Brews PCH will feature a five-ourse meal paired with a different beer selected from Chicago's Goose Island Brewing. Beers will include rare releases for $55 or the breweries flagship beers for $45.

Beer Week Dinner | The Brewery at Abigaile | 6-9 p.m.

Enjoy food and beer pairings created by Chef Tin Vuong and Brian Brewer, featuring Tangerine Honey Ginger Wit and a selection of rare in-house barrel-aged beers. Brian Brewer – Brewmaster at The Brewery at Abigaile – will be on-hand during the dinner to speak to guests, talk about his beers and give limited brewery tours. Rarest of the Rare Beers | Smog City Brewing Tap Room | 12-8 p.m.


Smog City is hosting a blow out event at its taproom and brewery and will feature some of its rarest beers. The brewery wiil tap its barrel-aged beers, sour beers and experimental beers in an opportunity to taste the largest number of their finest in one place at one time. Beers include:
  • *2009 O.E. (Cask)
  • 2011 Callaborative Evil w/Vanilla Beans (Cask)
  • Quercus Circus – 19 month sour barrel-aged Belgian blonde
  • The Tempest – 18 month barrel-aged sour red rye
  • Farmhouse Funk- An unreleased brett beer
  • Bourbon Collaborative Evil – 2011 Collaboration with Julian Shrago of Beachwood BBQ
  • Bourbon Red – 15 months in bourbon barrels
  • Bourbon O.E.- Bourbon barrel-aged Olde English
  • Bourbon Imperial Porter
  • Weird Beer- 5 Grain Saison with spices
  • Hive Five!- LABW special ingredient beer! 5 different types of Honey at 5.5%abv
  • Grape Ape IPA- IPA made with 500lbs of flame grapes, pressed on site
  • Groundwork Coffee Porter- 2012 GABF Gold Medal Winner
  • Amarilla Gorilla IPA
  • Little Bo Pils
  • L.A. Saison
  • Sabre-Toothed Squirrel

Allagash Brewing & Pies | Select Beer Store | 12-6 p.m.


Select Beer Store will close out L.A. Beer Week with a lineup of Allagash Brewing Beers and pies from I Heart Pies. The beer lineup includes Allagash White, Allagash Black, Yakuza, Uictor, Victoria, Interlude, Confluence, and Bourbon Black.
