First Bay League Cross Country Meet of the Season

The Redondo Union cross country teams will be competing in their first Bay League meet of the season this Thursday September 23rd at 2:45 pm in Entradero Park in Torrance.

League meets in XC include all the teams in the league. There are three of them held each season, with the third being conducted as the League Championships.

At this Thursday's meet Redondo will face rivals Palos Verdes, Mira Costa, West, Peninsula and Leuzinger. Both boys and girls races will be run at the varsity, junior varsity and freshman level.

All the races at all levels are considered to be very competitive as most of the schools in the Bay League have strong distance running traditions.

As of last week the Redondo girls varsity were ranked 1st and the Mira Costa girls were raked 4th in the state for division 2 schools. The Palos Verdes girls varsity weere ranked 1st  and the West girls were ranked 10th in division 3.

As of this week, in the national rankings, the Redondo girls are 9th, and the Mira Costa girls are 21st. National rankings combine all schools of all sizes.

The Redondo boys varsity were ranked 13th in in the state for division 2 schools, and the Palos Verdes boys were ranked 2nd in division 3.

Entradero Park provides a classic hilly, trail-oriented XC venue, and is very fan-friendly. Come out and watch the competition, you will be able to see 90% of the race action from almost anywhere in the park.
