Come enjoy the outdoors and make a difference with Heal the Bay’s Stream Team! Heal the Bay is partnering with the Mountains Restoration Trust to restore areas of Malibu Creek State Park.

Invasive plants have negative impacts on natural habitats, so removing them is vital for a healthy watershed. Enjoy the fresh air and sunshine while helping remove non-native vegetation in an effort to restore native plants along Malibu Creek and its many tributaries.

Please wear sturdy shoes. Bring plenty of water and a snack and a sunscreen/hat. Be prepared to get dirty. Gloves and tools will be provided. The work site is a 15-minute hike from the parking lot, and organizers and volunteers will leave for the work site promptly at 9 a.m. In the unlikely event of rain the restoration will be cancelled and you will need to sign up for the restoration event scheduled for a later date.

NOTE: The August restoration event will take place in a shady and cool spot in the Tapia Unit of Malibu Creek State Park. It is marked with a sign that reads "Malibu Creek State Park" and in smaller letters, "Tapia."

Directions: If you are coming south on Las Virgenes Road, continue past the main park entrance (0.2 miles south of Mulholland) and turn into the Tapia Unit approximately 1.3 miles south of the main park entrance. If you are coming north on Malibu Canyon Road, the Tapia Unit is approximately 0.2 miles north of Piuma Road. Turn into the park but do not drive to the gate attendant structure. Turn left immediately, taking a shortcut through a metal yellow gate. Make sure not to drive through the side with the tire spikes! Then drive down to the parking lot directly ahead of you. Signs will be placed to help direct you.

All participants must sign liability waiver forms.

This event is open to all ages, but volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Those under 18 must have their waiver forms (also available at the event) signed by a parent or guardian.

Space is limited, we are accepting volunteers on a first come/first served basis - sign up now.
